Sprinkled With Love

Welcome to Sprinkled With Love! I started this blog in 2009 when I started taking Wilton cake decorating classes, as a way to share my decorated cakes with others. Since then my family & friends have kept me busy creating birthday cakes, wedding cakes & more. Sprinkled with love has grown to be so much more since then. Please take a look around to see what I have been up to, and remember, share some love and leave a comment!

Baby Shower Fondant Cake

I passed my Fondant and Gum Paste Class by Wilton! I recently had to complete my final cake and since I was hosting a baby shower just a few days later, I decided to decorate it with a baby theme of "As Cute as a Button."

Inside is a three layer cake. Each layer is a white and chocolate marble cake, with two layers of 'Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting.' Check out the recipe below- it is SOOO good!! The fondant and gum paste used is made by Wilton. I have found a few recipes of Fondant that I hope to try soon. The cake was dirty iced using the Wilton Class Buttercream.

The buttons were lots of fun to make, and thanks to my instructor who gave me the idea to write BABY on top of the cake using the leftover little buttons. Every part of the cake is edible.

I have had so much fun taking cake decorating classes! I will be completing Course 3, dealing with Fondant and Tiered Cakes in March and April... I can't wait!

Colts Superbowl Cake: Fondant #2

I had my second fondant class last week. We practiced making hankerchief-Style Overlays, Draping and Ribbon Garland and Borders. We also made the Carnation Base that we will finish in the upcoming classes.

Since the Superbowl between the Colts & Saints was coming up, I decided to turn it into a football cake by adding a few details and using blue icing. Had I been starting from scratch I am sure it would have been better, but it was nice to be able to use a cake from class for something else! The cake was German Chocolate with Vanilla Pudding fill. It went over well at the party!

I did have some difficulty with covering the cake with fondant. It was difficult to get the fondant to the right size and thinkness and then get it on smoothly. After class I went and bought the roll mat and elastics for the rolling pin which should help to make this easier! I can't wait to try them out for my final cake.
